In NSW primary schools, the study of a language is optional.
Language study allows students to develop communication skills, learn about languages as systems and explore the relationship between language and culture. Students engage with the linguistic and cultural diversity of societies and reflect on their understanding of social interactions.
Exposure to and engagement with another language supports our students in becoming familiar with the experiences and perspectives of other cultures. The study of a second language has also been found to assist in the development of critical thinking skills, literacy, language and communication skills. Madame Jenni Hoogesteger is our proud French teacher, APS students look forward to their lessons each week.
